Why is infertility so overwhelming?

Feb 4, 2021

There is so much to talk about when it comes to fertility, that it is ridiculous that it wasn’t taught in much more detail at school. Rather than just telling us how not to get pregnant, learning about our cycle, what painful periods mean, how to understand what could affect our chances of having a baby, how to know who we can talk to about it, would have all been so helpful. One of the most important things I ask you to remember with your quest for information is to please be kind to yourself. This is not your fault.

Meanwhile, I want to tell you more about what I’m trying to do to help, which is relaunch my podcast.  Why?

Well, a lot has changed since I launched it in 2015. There is a lot more information as well as podcasts available for you to explore when trying to find out more about your fertility. I’ve made over 300 episodes and if you are just starting out and are looking for information, then I feel as it stands, I’m adding to the overwhelm.

I want to make it really obvious for you to know where to start, if you’ve just started trying and it’s taking a while, so things to think about regarding your cycle, your lifestyle and conversations to have with your GP. However if you find the podcast and you’ve been trying for a while, I also want you to be able to find the conversations relevant to you – it could be explaining miscarriage, or add ons or PGD testing or knowing what to expect when you first go to your clinic, or how to prepare for your egg collection.

If you’ve just found this website, as you’ve gone to Dr Google to answer your questions of ‘why can’t I get pregnant’ or ‘what do I need to know about infertility’ then come on in.

There are loads of episodes here for you and it’s about to get even easier to listen to. For now, though you can use the search bar on each page or go to one of our categories ‘Getting Pregnancy Ready, Infertility Support, Male Fertility, Miscarriage or Donor Conception and Surrogacy

What is going to happen on Monday 22nd February is that the podcast feed that you subscribe to in your favourite podcast app, will be stripped right back and we’ll gradually be archiving the old episodes, which will be available on this website, so don’t worry nothing is being taken away, it’s just being made even easier to find.

Then as we release new stuff, it will all be lovely and clear to find and it will lead you to more information if you want to know more.

Perfect plan.

The thing is, like the fertility industry has changed since we started and we need to update our chats and I’v changed too.

I’m now Mum to a five-year-old and I’m a fertility coach, teaching you how to better understand your emotions and mental health whilst trying to conceive. I’ll be straight with you,  I’ve been through my own struggles, with the decision to not have another child and donate our remaining embryos to science. It has affected both myself and my hubby. This ‘infertility thing’ has popped up many more times over the years.

I’m sad to say it doesn’t go away, even when you become parents, but I can promise you that you can learn to cope with it better.

I hope that you will come and join my closed facebook group if you haven’t already or follow on me online  Insta and Twitter and we can talk more and that we can carry on this journey together.

Because you don’t have to feel totally overwhelmed as you aren’t alone in all of this and I can’t stress that enough.

So, if you want to talk more about actually getting some practical support – lets do it, just click here and I can explain how we can work more directly together x
