Well, whilst we’re currently on a break from publishing I wanted to take a moment to let you know the plan and also to reassure you that we’ll be back. You see after 7 years of publishing, I’ve put a lot of time into this podcast and it has been an honour to get to talk to so many people and learn so much. It has been a real labour of love, as whilst I’ve loved connecting with so many people and helping you feel less alone. I’ve created a community on Facebook that always has people supporting one and another and despite my struggles with being present on social media all the time, the pod has continued to grow it’s following which i’m happy about. I’ll confess it stresses me out and I’m really trying for it not to.
Working for yourself requires you to wear so many hats which if you are also a business owner you will know what I’m talking about and I always have had a number of projects all running alongside this podcast with my voiceover business and other podcast clients. I’ve been having a big look at how I split my time as I’ve not really been the savviest when it comes to making the pod a part of my business until more recently, whilst I’ve seen other people do a much better job. My mission is to really make sure that this catalogue of work is doing what I set out to do with it and that is to educate and empower you. So I’ve hit pause on the weekly publishing for now whilst I push forward on making that happen behind the scenes and I hope you will bare with me.
The Podscape
Yep, that’s apparently a phrase, has changed so much since I started and below I’ve listed some guides that other people have compiled with other fertility podcasts including this one, for you to listen to. Compared to when I launched this there is so much choice and what I will say if you have only recently started listening to podcasts is do make sure you listen to things that aren’t related to fertility at all, as well as this one and the other’s listed. You need to make sure this topic isn’t all-consuming.
So, I’m just going to explain our plan for this year and hope you’ll stay with me for the ride. You see 2021 saw The Fertility Podcast relaunch with Crowd Network, an agency that I was talking to that wanted to have more ‘women’s health content’. We talked about how best to re-energise the podcast and how if I was to do it again what would I do.. my answer was to actually have a plan and release episodes in an order that might be what you, my lovely listener might be going through. So that’s what we did. Kate and I mapped out what we thought you might experience if you were just starting to think about having a family and then followed the ‘journey’ through to having treatment and then what might happen. We also took all our old episodes off the podcast feed that you subscribe to and my lovely VA Thea, added them to Sound Cloud so you can access them via this website and we made a point of reminding you of the conversations in our new series in 2021.
Fertility in the Workplace.
2021 ended with a series talking about Fertility Matters at Work which if you haven’t heard is a new company I have co-founded with two brilliant ladies Becky Kearns and Claire Ingle and we are working very hard to help organisations learn more about the issues that many of us face when trying to start of complete our families. We see a world where the working world ‘gets it’ and supports us better, so we can have flexible working or time off for appointments rather than taking annual leave. It is a big mission we are on, but one that is very important to us all and it is where my energies are focused right now – and the reason The Fertility Podcast in its weekly publishing schedule is on hold. However, we are going to be sharing something exciting very soon for your my dear podcast lover, so watch this space.
What about The Fertility Podcast?
So what’s next for The Fertility Podcast I hear you ask again.. well here’s the plan. We are relaunching our archive that we took off the podcast feed in 2021 and put onto Sound Cloud as separate podcast feeds which you will be able to listen to as normal wherever you get your podcasts, so we’ll be having the categories we cover: Getting Pregnancy Ready, Pregnancy Loss, Infertility Support, Male Fertility, Alternative Routes to Parenthood all as different podcasts that exist and that is where you will be able to find our back catalogue. The other exciting news that is coming, is we’re going to be launching our 5 minute snippets of bitesize chunks of useful information from a range of experts and organisations who want to help you learn a little something extra that could help you out. So make sure you have subscribed as they will be coming next month. How does that sound? I’d love to hear what you think.
Thanks for sharing.
It’s always fun to see who is enjoying what we do and I was just looking to see how The Fertility Podcast was doing and wanted to thank the following sites for including us in their recommendations as it’s always brilliant to be included in people’s round-ups of what to listen to, now there is so much more choice.
Thank you to Shameika Rhymes for including us in your list of podcasts that help to validate your feelings and make you feel less alone in this article for Parade if ever we had a goal of what we wanted our pod to achieve it’s this for sure!
This post on the Family Inceptions also shares an interesting list to add to yours and does this list of 17 fertility podcasts from Progyny who also started their own pod talking about infertility. Dina D’Amelio who is the social media specialist at the RMA in Connecticut put this guide together
So there’s plenty for you to get your earholes into, and every time you listen to a pod, whether it’s ours or one in this list you will instantly be recommended more, so I have no doubt you’ll have plenty to choose from.
Of course, I hope you always listen to us first, but it needs to suit you for where you are at right now and that’s the beauty of the podcast world, someone will be speaking as if they are in your head!
Make sure you have subscribed to The Fertility Podcast so you don’t miss what we do next and we’d love you to leave us a review as it’s lovely knowing what you think and it helps others know we’re worth listening to and don’t forget you can leave us an actual voice message but just clicking the box below xx
