Fertility Matters at work for many reasons, and along with my co-founders Becky and Claire we have been working tirelessly to have this conversation with the corporate world. Having met in the TTC ( trying to conceive ) space, the three of us had all been talking about how more needed to be done to support people at work. Currently, there is no legislation in place to protect you if you need time off work to attend appointments for fertility treatment and sadly we are hearing too many stories of people losing their job, leaving their job or having to take sick days or annual leave. So we’re lobbying parliament for a change in the legislation and I’m delighted to say we will have more news coming. What we know is that there is still a real lack of understanding of the physical, emotional and financial toll that having to build your family with the assistance of modern science has on a person. What we hope is that by continuing with the work we are doing we can speak to more and more organisations about how we can educate HR and Wellbeing leads, to ensure people feel supported.
